To all sane Democrats: your party has been usurped..

Yes, the Democrat Party is now officially Socialist  and moving toward radical leftism. "Sane"  JFK style Democrats have been gradually out numbered throughout the decades.
Bill Clinton did manage to move more toward the middle, but that was merely a brief respite.
Non-totalitarian Democrats need to come to grips with their party identification. Who Killed the Center-Left?  They may not wish to join the GOP although it has moved leftward.
For those voters, a third party could well be in the making. They may even be joined by the more liberal Republicans. A possible three party scenario scenario could be

 Socialist Democrats    Centrists    Conservative Republicans.

At both ends of the spectrum, there will be intolerant totalitarians, but they will be contained, hopefully.
If our republic is to survive, we need to fully wake up, shed our denial, and face the truth.
Below are excerpts from several articles with links for further reading, which discuss the move of the Dems toward socialism.
The last article,  The Heck with Civility—This Is War  deals with confronting the violent left.

Democratic Party is Now Openly Embracing Socialism

Tom Perez, chairman of the Democratic National Committee (DNC), appeared Tuesday on the Bill Press Show and when asked about the party’s future, he replied:

I have three kids. Two of them are daughters — one just graduated college, one who is in college. And they were both texting me about their excitement over Alexandria (Ocasio-Cortez) because she really — she represents the future of our party.

If a self-declared socialist represents the party’s future, Democrats may find themselves becoming more and more irrelevant. Is that what all Democrats really aspire to? Do 31% of citizens from the land of the free and the home of the brave really hope to live in a socialist nation?
Let’s take a look at Ocasio-Cortez’s platform:

  • Medicare For All
  • Housing As A Basic Right
  • A Peace Economy
  • Federal Jobs Guarantee
  • Gun Control/Assault Weapons Ban
  • Criminal Justice Reform, End Private Prisons
  • Immigration Justice/Abolish ICE
  • Solidarity with Puerto Rico
  • Mobilizing Against Climate Change
  • Clean Campaign Finance
  • Higher Education, Free Trade School For All
  • Women’s Rights
  • Support LGBTQIA+ (What does the “+” represent? Are there some genders we’ve left out?)
  • Support Seniors
  • Curb Wall Street Gambling: Restore Glass Steagall
At the end of her socialist wish list, she invites supporters to become campaign volunteers:
Democracy is Powered by Volunteers Like You”
Why doesn’t it say, “Socialism is powered by volunteers like you?”   more

Here’s how Marxists and extreme radicals are seeking to take over the Democrat party

A far-left group behind rising Democratic star Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is rife with Marxists and other far-left radicals.
The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), which includes Ocasio-Cortez, is creeping its way into the mainstream of American politics.
Ocasio-Cortez’ shocking primary upset of Democratic New York Rep. Joe Crowley on June 26 elevated both her profile and that of the DSA, which helped boost her to victory. DSA member rolls have skyrocketed since President Donald Trump’s victory in the 2016 election, and Ocasio-Cortez’s victory appears to have accelerated that trend.
Democratic National Committee (DNC) chairman Tom Perez said the 28-year-old socialist “represents the future of our party” on Tuesday.  more

A plan to get even with Republicans “with their very worst nightmare”

Posted by    Thursday, July 5, 2018 at 5:00pm

Democrats should be honest about their plans for vengeance, and let the voters decide.

Rob Goodman, a post-doctoral researcher at McGill University, is mad. At Trump. And Republicans.
For supposedly breaking so many norms of political behavior that dramatic action is needed by Democrats to save the Republic.

Goodman, referencing a book from David Faris, summarizes some of what needs to be done, Hey Democrats, Fighting Fair Is for Suckers:

The list of those changes is dizzying. Grant statehood to D.C. and Puerto Rico, and break California in seven, with the goal of adding 16 new Democrats to the Senate. Expand the Supreme Court and the federal courts, packing them with liberal judges. Move to multi-member House districts to roll back the effects of partisan gerrymandering. Pass a new Voting Rights Act, including nationwide automatic voter registration, felon enfranchisement and an end to voter ID laws. Grant citizenship to millions of undocumented immigrants, creating a host of new Democratic-leaning voters: “Republicans have always feared that immigration would change the character of American society. Democrats should reward them with their very worst nightmare.”
The notion that Republicans have broken so many norms that such drastic action is needed is absurd. Who broke the norm of accepting the result of an election? If was the Democrats and #TheResistance, who tried to intimidate Electoral College Electors into changing their votes. It is the Democrats who abolished the judicial filibuster in 2013, only to see it come back to bite them. It was Democrats, who applauded Obama’s “pen and phone” to make end runs around Congress.
The breaking of norms detailed by Goodman is actually the unraveling of the breach of norms by Democrats and Obama.
But regardless of who you think started it, Democrats should be honest about their plans for vengeance.
Make it part of Democrats’ platform, tell the voters what you intend to do.
See how it turns out.  Original post

The Heck with Civility—This Is War
At least since the appearance of my book, Rules for Radical Conservatives—originally written under the name and in the voice of my radical leftist character created for National Review, “David Kahane”—I’ve been asked whether I advocate using the same tactics against the Left as they use on us. And my answer is always the same: of course I do.
Treat us with the same contempt with which we treat you.  Or, to put it in language you might actually understand: treat us with same respect we give you, which is none.
After all, you don’t see us being nice to you, do you? You don’t see us ever reaching across the aisle, extending the olive branch, blah blah blah.  Laurel wreaths are for winners, but olive branches can go pound sand. If a tie, to use the old sports cliché, is like kissing your sister, losing is like… well, don’t make me go there.  Remember that poor schmuck Sully in Arnold Schwarzenegger’s 1985 movie, Commando?  You know, the part where Arnold quips: “Remember, Sully, when I promised to kill you last”?   Like Arnold: we lied.  more
