Schumer’s Days As Senate Leader Could Be Numbered, McCarthy Says

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer came under heavy fire earlier this year when he attacked two Supreme Court justices.
As a result, his leadership in the Senate could be at stake and he could be removed from his position after the inflammatory remarks.
House Republican leader and California Rep. Kevin McCarthy said that some members of the Democrat Party in the Senate could be thinking about removing him.
“You have the leader of the Democrats in the Senate
standing over the Supreme Court, I believe, before the Supreme Court is
going to hear a case, threatening two new judges–threatening them,”
McCarthy said.
“He’s not mincing his word in any shape or form. We are so much better than that. I don’t care if it is a Republican or Democrat; it is unacceptable, and it is a new low,” he said.
“We know Chuck Schumer. He’s been a member of Congress, he’s been a senator for quite some time, and he’s been a leader.”
“It is just so inappropriate, but to take it to that level, it almost brings a threat not only to those members of the Supreme Court but for others to act,” he said.
“I don’t know if Democrats want to change their leadership over it, but I’ve heard some talk about it,” he said.
Schumer issued threatening remarks about two Supreme Court Justices. He insists he was talking about Republicans in the Senate facing political consequences, but that is not how his words were interpreted by many.
“I want to tell you, Gorsuch, I want to tell you, Kavanaugh, you have released the whirlwind, and you will pay the price,” he said in front of the Supreme Court.
“You won’t know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions,” he said as he yelled in front of the crowd.
Are
there two senators named Gorsuch and Kavanaugh? Because the senator’s
comments are specifically aimed at those two people and there is no
mention made of Senate Republicans.
His comments also drew the ire of Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts, a conservative appointee of former President George W. Bush.
“Justices know that criticism comes with the territory, but threatening statements of this sort from the highest levels of government are not only inappropriate, but they are also dangerous,” he said. “All Members of the Court will continue to do their job, without fear or favor, from whatever quarter.”
Senate Majority Leader and Kentucky Sen. Mitch McConnell also took aim at Schumer.
“There
is nothing to call this except a threat.” He said as he accused the
minority leader of attempting to “gaslight the entire country.”
He may have gaslighted the fire that ends his own career.
